Haralson Receives Canoe Trail Grant

  The Tallapoosa River Canoe Trail project is beginning to roll now that the county has received a $51,150 grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.  

  The canoe trail will create several sites for people to access the Tallapoosa River for recreational purposes.  Concrete staircases and wooden canoe launches will be installed where needed, as well as gravel parking lots, trash receptacles and signage.

  Five sites along the Tallapoosa River are being considered for trail access points, including two on county property.  The other three sites are on private property that will require the landowners' permission before development.

  Once developed, the canoe trail could bring revenue to the local economy.  Events and fesitvals can be planned to include the trail.
